Weekly Round-Up: The Most Fun Labor Day In a Long Time

I don’t know about you, but my Labor Days tend to be pretty mundane.  Spending time with my family, enjoying the three day weekend, and of course, going to a picnic or two; they’re fun, but hardly the stuff of legend.  This year is a bit different, though.  Firstly, I’m visiting my mother, which, asI noted last week, has become an expedition in itself.  (As an aside, if youdidn’t catch the message last week, you could always subscribe to my RSS feed to make sure you don’t miss anything in the future.  Just saying…)

What I didn’t tell you then is that my wife and I would be attending two comedy shows during this vacation.  We went to the Gabriel Iglesias show on Thursday, which was absolutely hilarious, and this Sunday, we will be seeingJeff Dunham.   Two of our favorite comedians (if not THE two favorite), both within easy driving distance of my mother’s house, performing only three days apart, during a holiday season we were planning to visit my mother anyway; if those aren’t signs to attend these shows, I don’t know what would be.  (It didn’t hurt that a few of our relatives were willing to buy us tickets as early birthday/Christmas presents, given that we’re not in the best positionto buy them ourselves.)

Add in a picnic, some visits from relatives to see my daughter, and a trip or two to other relatives to show her off (babies are practically celebrities in my family, if you haven’t guessed from past articles), and it’s going to be one of the busiest, but as the title of this article says, most fun, Labor Days I’ve had in a long time.  Unfortunately, it does leave me a little short on time, so apologies if this collection of posts is a bit (or much) sparser than usual.  That in no way should be taken as a sign that there are fewer good personal finance posts out there, starting with some:
