Do you ever look at your life and think there is room for improvement? You are not alone. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reports that 25 percent of Americans have more negative experiences in an average day than positive ones. Thankfully, there are many ways in which you can improve your lifestyle. Here are five that don’t even need you to leave your home.
Invite Friends Over

Bronnie Ware, an Australian palliative care nurse, recorded the top five regrets of the dying. Among them was a desire to have stayed in touch with friends. Don’t wait until you are on your deathbed to give your friends a call when you can pick up the phone now. Touching base on Facebook doesn’t count. Throw a dinner party, watch a movie together, or have a good old-fashioned chat. You will feel better for it.
Fit Exercise Into Your Schedule
From an improved mood to boosted energy levels, the benefits of exercise are wide-ranging. If the thought of putting in the hours at the gym fills you with dread, you can enjoy the same benefits by exercising at home. Invest in a few exercise DVDs or games like the Wii Fit and you will be working up a sweat in no time at all. Low on funds? Take a look at the many exercise videos available for free on YouTube.
Take an Online Class

Taking an online class such as a Master of Science in Taxation is a great way to improve your skill set and can often lead to improved job prospects or perhaps a complete career change. That said, there are a huge variety of online classes that you might take just for the fun of learning. Some of the more outlandish offerings include the anthropology of magic and tree climbing, although you might struggle to study the latter in your home.
Start Your Own Business
If the thought of slogging away at your nine to five for the foreseeable future is less than appealing, why not consider starting your own business from home? You might already have a skill set that will lend itself well to starting a freelancing career, but you can also look at other online money-making opportunities. If you are particularly knowledgeable about a subject, starting your own blog is an option.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Adults need around eight hours sleep each night, but in today’s fast paced world, that is often tricky. Make an effort to have a good night’s sleep and not only will you feel happier, but you will reap a host of extra benefits too. Research suggests that you can reasonably expect to enjoy a better sex life, less pain, improved weight control, and clearer thinking.
You can implement some of these ideas with a minimum of fuss while others may require a little more effort. If you are serious about improving your lifestyle, though, it is worth giving each one a try.
