I think the easiest solution would to be use internal links instead of external links. You don’t need to turn off anything or get a plugin.

Example:
If you want to link to this post in another post,

Do NOT link: “http://www.theamateurfinancier.com/blog/the-economics-of-pet-ownership/”

Rather, link: “../blog/the-economics-of-pet-ownership/”

That will make sure it doesn’t ping.

A reasonable argument, my friend. The way you made your point could lead some to conclude that you think of your pet as more investment and less companion, though. At the very least, you got me thinking about the why of owning a pet.

As for the trackbacks, perhaps I’m just clueless, but I can’t figure out how to turn off trackbacks internally, without also cutting off trackbacks from outside sources. So far, I’ve just been trying to delete them all manually.

Don’t get me wrong… I got a dog for the reasons you listed. I like the companionship and all the funny things she does every day that put a smile on my face.

BUT my post was to clear up the idea that pets only cost money. They are not just money pits. So, my argument was that they save money in other areas of your life.

I would never advocate owning a pet based on financial reasons.

So what I am saying is that we are in agreement, I just didn’t say that outright in my post

On a side note, you might want to turn trackbacks off when you link between your own posts.
