Indeed it is; that's one reason I'm shooting for that kind of career. Also, what do you mean by 'Gluck!'? (As I typed that, I had the dawning realization that you probably meant 'Good Luck'; it's amazing how clueless I can be at times.)

@FS: The long term goal is to become a professor, since I do enjoy teaching and think it would be a good fit. I would like to work in the private sector for a period while I'm younger, though; partially to broaden my horizons, partially to build up a nice resume for when I do start teaching, and partially because the pay in the private sector tends to be higher (I'll be the first to admit, I do like money as much as the next guy). So, the end game is a bit different from the near game.

Heh, FS. Tempting offer, but I'm kind of attached to the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as my fiancee, who's sort of stuck in Northwest PA for the foreseeable future. (Interestingly enough, she was born a California girl, so that's kind of odd.)

I'm looking into Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, and several other schools in the western PA region. As for the field, I'm looking into biochemistry, primarily, but I'm not ruling out biology, chemistry, or some similar fields. The problem is, many of the most prestigious schools require subject specific GRE tests, so I need to take the biochemistry GRE at some point (I think the next time available is April, so not too much time to prepare for that), and if I want to be considered for any other program, I'd need to take the corresponding tests for those, as well.

Congrats Rog! With your blockbuster SAT score, I was guessing you'd get around a 670-720 blended average!

What schools are you thinking of applying to, and what fields?

Come out to California. We have Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA!

@Evan: I'm hoping to go to graduate school for biochemistry. Now that I've finished the GRE, I need to do the even harder task of applying to all the schools and hoping for the best.
