(Especially now that all you need to do to conduct a 'survey' is set up a link on your website...) Taking statistics the way you would any reporting, with a healthy amount of skepticism and an eye toward ulterior motives, is definitely your best bet. @Forest: Very true; statistics are exceptionally easy to distort or misrepresent in the service of some underlying goal. We also need to discount any stats fed to us by someone trying to sell something, especially if they are wearing a white coat!!! I like the quote "99% of statistics are made up on the spot".....
