Thanks, Roger, for doing this for my book.

Bloggers have been reviewing it throughout May and June, and sales are going very well this summer. I think Enjoy Your Money can help a lot of people, particularly in these difficult economic times.

Thanks for your part in making it happen!

Ah, a very nice number of responses for the contest; congratulations to Kevin and Barb, you're the winners, and I'll be getting in touch with you shortly to get addresses to send out the books. And now, to address all the comments:

@Steve: As mentioned, it is a very good book for a 'whole forest' view of personal finance, and I did enjoy it quite a bit. Hopefully, Kevin and Barb will enjoy it just as much. If you ever write another book, I'll be sure to read it (and review it, if at all possible). Good to know a bit more about you; I kind of got the feeling that Antonio was close to your heart (along with James), but it's good to hear it from you. Perhaps all this publicity will help with that low-paying career.

@Kevin: Sounds like you have a pretty good balance of motivation and relaxation in your life. I'm not a morning person either; I've worked the night shift for most of my post-college career, and found it much more conducive than eight a.m. classes back in college.

@Jackie: Being eager to get ahead is always good, and liking cars does have its benefits.

@Budgeting: The car chase is rather different from the average personal finance fare, and does make the book unique. The best part is that it doesn't feel too out of place in the context of the book; it's definitely an unusual take on personal finance.

@Bucksome Boomer: Carmen is a fun character, and it sounds like you've got some of her best traits.

@Barb: It is a pretty good 'soft sell' and intro to personal finance. P.S. You DID win, and I'll write to you soon to get the address to which I should send the book :D

I like stories and have read only a few "story-related" personal finance books. As I am passionate about financial literacy, it sounds like a "soft sell" into into the personal finance world, good for those starting out. Thanks for the review. Barb p.s. I hope I win the free book!

I would say Carmen because I was a single mom at one time and I think I'm a pretty smart shopper.

Sounds like an interesting book.

I'd be listening to Mrs. Kramer as closely as I could. The car chase scene description in and of itself makes me want to pick this up...how many personal finance books could pull that off? Since I don't usually read or enjoy pf books in general (I've only read 4 and only really got into one...), this sounds different enough to be interesting.

I'd say I'm kind of a mix between Antonio and James. I'm pretty motivated but I'm laid back when it comes to speedbumps in life. I'm also not a morning person, although I'm trying to become one.

Thorough, helpful review, Roger! I think you captured the pros and cons. Its introductory nature definitely curtails going into great depth for any one topic. But the beauty of the overview is that people who've been obsessing on the trees can step back and see the forest.

As a college student told me, "I've read books on real estate investing and stocks, but I wish I'd read your book first to get the bigger picture."

So which character is most like me? A part of myself is in each character, but Antonio is probably the closest fit. We share a heart for prioritizing a life of service and a knack for choosing low-paying careers.
